Handmade slipware terracotta plates by Francesca Anfossi (White) plate:5 Project Self DetectiveThis series of plates by artist Francesca Anfossi is inspired by the variety of flowers that Van Gogh depicted in his paintings. Sunflowers, irises, poppies, cornflowers, myositis and chrysanthemums are hinted at through painted, gestural marks of thick and thin slip ( liquid clay). Anfossi's use of circles, curved lines, straight lines, and dots in her mark making are a direct reference to Van Gogh's drawings from 1888 and 1889, including Olive
